Bawtry crash: Driver dies when car hits tree

A driver died when his car crashed into a tree in South Yorkshire.

The 39-year-old man was driving a black Mercedes along the Great North Road in Bawtry at about 08:00 GMT on Saturday.

The car had been travelling in the direction of Mount Pleasant Hotel, officers said.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
