Arson and firearms offences lead to nine arrests

A series of arson and firearms offences in Doncaster has led to nine people being arrested since Friday.

Police attended three suspected arson attacks and four alleged firearms incidents.

A car also collided with a building on Mear Close, Askern, at around 21:30 GMT on Friday just 12 hours after it was targeted in an arson attack.

South Yorkshire Police said it was working to identify those involved in the "mindless violence".

Police responded to reports of gunshots on Lodge Road and Hawthorne Grove on Sunday.

Firearms officers attended incidents at Wolsey Avenue and Manor Estate on the same day.

The force responded arson reports on Balfour Road, Bentley, and on Kings Road, Askern, on Friday.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incidents.
