Two charged over fatal hit-and-run

Two people have been charged in connection with the death of a woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in 2022.

Keita Mullen, 30, and another woman, were hit by a car as they were crossing the A638 High Street in Bawtry, near Doncaster, just after 00:00 BST on 24 July.

Ms Mullen, who had three children aged 10, five and four months, died at the scene. The other woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Matthew Harris, 36, of Burcroft Hill, Conisbrough, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving whilst unlicensed or uninsured, while Meryl Chambers, 51, of Burcroft Hill, Conisbrough, has been charged with aiding and abetting death by driving whilst unlicensed or uninsured.

South Yorkshire Police said both were due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on 7 January.
