A vicar at a church in Grantham is appealing for help to get a 23ft (7m) Christmas tree back into position after it fell over.

Father Stuart Cradduck, Rector at St Wulfram's, said the tree had toppled over after a gust of wind blew through the church.

"Luckily, no-one was hurt," he said.

In a call for volunteers, Fr Cradduck added: "We need your help to get it back it up."

Tumbling down

He said if there were any willing volunteers who could help to raise the stricken tree an attempt would be made at 18:30 GMT on Thursday.

Without help, Fr Cradduck said: "I've no idea how we are going to get it upright - it's huge."

The church regularly hosts a Christmas tree festival and an ice skating attraction during the festive season, and there seems to be something of a theme involving things toppling over.

In 2015, Fr Cradduck donned his skates to celebrate the opening of the ice rink attraction at the church, only to fall flat on his face as he took to the ice.

After regaining his composure, he joked about the fee he might receive for the video of his fall.

A few years later, Father Clay Rowntree did exactly the same thing.
