Police warning over children trespassing on rooftops
Police have issued a warning after receiving multiple reports of children trespassing on rooftops in a Nottinghamshire town and causing damage.
In a recent incident, Nottinghamshire Police said up to 20 young people were seen scaling buildings in West Bridgford.
A CCTV still released by the force showed a number of people standing on a rooftop at 17:06 GMT on 23 November.
There have also been reports of break-ins at businesses, graffiti sprayed high up and other vandalism.
A total of 11 incidents were reported in August, seven in September and five in October, said police.
A 14-year-old boy was previously arrested on suspicion of criminal damage during one incident, and a number of young people have been escorted off roofs by police.
PC Matt Holden said the perpetrators were "risking serious injury or worse" and made an appeal for help to tackle the issue.
"In particular, we'd ask parents to check where their children are during the evenings and make it clear to them about the risks involved," he said.
"It is also important these young people understand they are committing offences by behaving in this way, and we will deal robustly with those found to be involved."
