Refunds offered after drone show cancellation
Ticketholders for two cancelled drone light shows in Nottingham have said they now hope to claim refunds.
The events, a retelling of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, were due to feature 600 drones over Trent Bridge cricket ground but were called off due to high winds from Storm Darragh.
Disappointed members of the public had complained that requests to have their money returned had been turned down, and they had been offered tickets to future shows they either could not attend or did not wish to see.
Now the organiser, Yuup, has confirmed both an alternate show or a full refund will be offered to everyone.
Storm Darragh led to the cancellation of dozens of events in the area and this included A Christmas Carol, with first the Saturday, then Sunday shows being called off.
Clare Hodgkiss, from Chesterfield in Derbyshire, was booked for the Sunday display and said she was initially told £64 would be credited to her account to be used for a show in March, but threatened to go to trading standards.
"I didn't book for that, I booked for the Christmas Carol," she said.
"It felt like they are keeping the money and forcing us to go and see something we don't want to see.
"I understand they have said refunds are available but we shouldn't have had to do all this.
"Hopefully this has been sorted out but it's not been right."
In a statement, Yuup said: "We have contacted all customers individually to offer a full credit to the amount of the original show booking, and customers will now be able to claim a full refund.
"We understand how disappointed customers are that the show did not go ahead as planned, and the challenge for some to make an alternative show.
"All customers will be contacted via email by 23:59 GMT on 10th Dec 2024 where they will be offered the option to transfer their ticket to a future show or claim a full refund."
