Drone show cancelled as strong winds continue

Two drone light shows that were due to take place in Nottingham have been cancelled for safety reasons as strong winds continue to hit the UK.

The events, called A Christmas Carol, would have seen 600 drones light up the sky over Trent Bridge cricket ground on Saturday and Sunday.

They were both called off, along with contingency shows on Monday and Tuesday, because of Storm Darragh.

People will not be able to get refunds, but they can transfer their tickets to events planned for next year.

Dominic Mills, chief executive of the organisers, Yuup, said: "It became evident to us that the conditions at Trent Bridge were not going to be a safe environment in which to perform the show with over 600 drones in the sky.

"The most important thing is the safety of the audience and also the team involved in producing the show."

The new drone light show is currently in production and is due to be held at Trent Bridge in March.
