Driver arrested after police pursuit on motorway

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences following a police pursuit on the M4.

Several people travelling along the motorway reported a vehicle swerving across lanes on the westbound carriageway near junction 17 for Chippenham, Wiltshire, shortly after 13:00 GMT on Thursday.

Officers from Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset and Gwent performed a rolling road block to bring the car to a stop.

Wiltshire Police said a man had been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving under the influence of cocaine and dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.
