Extra patrols as schoolchildren approached by men

Two schoolchildren were approached by men they do not know during separation incidents.

Wiltshire Police is investigating and extra patrols are taking place across Chippenham after a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were approached.

Neither child was physically harmed and the incidents are not believed to be linked.

Officers are now working with schools to "provide reassurance". Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police.

The boy was approached by a masked man on Woodlands Road, at the junction with Downing Street, at about 15:10 GMT on Wednesday.

Police said the man is described as being in his 30s, mixed race, of medium build and about 6ft (2m) tall.

The boy ran away from the man, who was wearing a black hoodie and dark denim shorts, police have said.

The second incident happened at about 08:15 on Thursday, when the girl was approached by a man in a car as she walked down Union Road.

Police said the second man is described as middle aged, white but with a tanned complexion and in his mid 30s, repeatedly offered the girl a lift which she declined.

The man was wearing a black long sleeved t-shirt and blue jeans.
