Erdogan protesters punched and thrown out of New York hotel

Demonstrators were beaten and ejected from a New York hotel after interrupting a speech by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The demonstrators, who were attacked as they were removed from the venue, said their aim was to publicly condemn the president's policies in Turkey, Syria and Iraq.

Mr Erdogan was in New York for the UN General Assembly.
