'Absolutely sickening': Mum reacts to early release of son's killer
A mother whose son was killed in a machete attack said it was "sickening" to find out the man who was jailed for her son's manslaughter will be released under plans to help free up space in Britain's crowded prisons.
Dionne Barrett told BBC Breakfast she felt sick to her stomach at the news, adding: "What if he goes and does it again to somebody else?"
She was joined on the Breakfast sofa by Martin Jones, His Majesty's Chief Inspector of Probation, who said the government had "no alternative" than to take action to reduce the prison population, but hearing Dionne's story was "heartrending".
