Man arrested after 'hazardous' substances found in property

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after a number of "potentially hazardous substances" were found inside a property in Glasgow's east end.

Officers were called to Old Shettleston Road at 14:20 on Monday following reports of concern for a person.

A quantity of harmful substances were found inside. It has not been confirmed what the substances were.

Police said there was no risk to the wider public but a police presence would remain in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 42-year-old man has been arrested after the discovery of potentially hazardous substances at a property in Shettleston, Glasgow.

"Around 2.20pm on Monday, 5 February, 2024, officers attended at an address in Old Shettleston Road following a report of concern for a person.

"A quantity of potentially hazardous substances was discovered within."

The spokesperson added inquiries were continuing.

Local road closures were put in place and these were lifted around 23:00.
