A pipe bomb has been found during a security alert in Banbridge, County Down.

Police and Army bomb experts were sent to Brookfield Avenue in the town after it was discovered on Saturday morning.

A controlled explosion was carried out on the pipe bomb, which has been taken away for further examination.

Some residents had to leave their homes during the alert but they have since been allowed to return.
