A suspected pipe bomb has been found during a security alert in Banbridge.

Police received a report about a suspicious object in Lenaderg Road at 01:20 BST on Monday.

Officers attended along with ammunition technical officers and the object, described as a viable pipe bomb-type device, was removed and taken away for further forensic examination.

The security alert in the County Down town has now ended, and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
