Four new acts including Billy Lockett have joined the billing for a new live music event in their home county.

Andy Crofts, Charlotte Carpenter and indie-rock band Balter will perform as part of the A Perfect Day concert, headlined by James Arthur, at Delapre Park in Northampton on 16 June.

They join Kettering's Mae Stephens, who found stardom via TikTok last year, as support acts for the show.

Lockett's album Abington Grove reached 15 in the UK albums chart last year.

The 32-year-old from Northampton has recently had singles from the album, including Miss Missing You, played on BBC Radio 2.

Crofts, 46, who grew up in the town, was the founding member of psychedelic indie rock band The Moons and the former bass player in Paul Weller's live band.

Carpenter, like Stephens, is from Kettering and the singer-songwriter recently released her debut album A Modern Rage.

Indie rock quartet Balter, also from Northampton, have been regulars on BBC Music Introducing in Northamptonshire.

Stephens's breakout song - If We Ever Broke Up - went viral on video sharing site TikTok after a snippet of it was posted last January. It was later named the second most popular song on TikTok globally in 2023.

The singer, who has been writing since the age of 12, had been working shifts in a local supermarket, but has since quit her job to work on her music full-time, performing at the Glastonbury and the twin Reading and Leeds festivals last summer.

West Northamptonshire Council is hosting the one-day event in association with the event promoter Kilimanjaro & UK Live Ltd.

It will take place in the grounds of Delapré Abbey, which was the home of the Tate and Bouverie families for 400 years.

The stately home reopened to the public in 2018 following a £6m restoration project.
