A singer who found stardom via TikTok while still working in a supermarket has joined the billing for a new live music event in her home county.

Mae Stephens, who rose to fame for her song If We Ever Broke Up, will perform as part of the A Perfect Day concert at Delapre Park in Northampton on 16 June.

The 20-year-old from Kettering has since been signed to EMI records and is working on more music.

Stephens's breakout song went viral on video sharing site TikTok after a snippet of it was posted last January. It was later named the second most popular song on TikTok globally in 2023.

The singer, who has been writing since the age of 12, had been working shifts in a local supermarket, but has since quit her job to work on her music full-time, performing at Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds festivals last summer.

She said: "It's fantastic to be playing as part of A Perfect Day concert in Delapre Park supporting James Arthur this summer.

"It's a home county gig for me - I can't wait!"

West Northamptonshire Council is hosting the one-day event in association with the event promoter Kilimanjaro & UK Live Ltd.

It will take place in the grounds of Delapré Abbey, which was the home of the Tate and Bouverie families for 400 years.

The stately home reopened to the public in 2018 following a £6m restoration project.
