NHS 'listening' on Hampshire hospital restructuring plans
NHS chiefs are "always listening" to public feedback on proposals to restructure hospital services in Hampshire, the county's chief medical officer has insisted.
Dr Lara Allaway, chief medical officer for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board, was quizzed about the plans which would see the closure of the Royal Hampshire County Hospital's A&E department in Winchester and a new purpose-built hospital in or near Basingstoke.
She told BBC South Today the plans were "designing healthcare for the future".
The proposals - currently open to public consultation - mean Winchester's emergency department could become a 24/7 doctor and nurse-led urgent treatment centre.
