A brewery is set to close with the loss of 10 jobs after failing to find a buyer.

Ringwood Brewery, on the Hampshire-Dorset border, was put up for sale in June by owner Carlsberg Marston's.

The firm said the site needed an upgrade to be competitive, but expansion and improvements would have been "challenging and extremely costly" given the limited space and location.

A 450-seat theatre has been built in a Hampshire village without official approval, it has emerged.

The venue in St Margaret's Lane, Titchfield, has been created behind the existing Titchfield Festival Theatre.

Fareham Borough Council said it had issued a planning enforcement notice. The theatre has to stop using the venue by 29 February unless it appeals.

Islanders slam late-night ferry crossing cuts

Passengers have criticised cuts to a foot passenger ferry service that will see late-night crossings stop earlier.

Under new timetables from 3 January, the last Red Jet ferry to the Isle of Wight will depart from Southampton at 22:30 GMT, with the final departure from West Cowes changing to 23:05.

Red Funnel blamed the decision on reduced passenger demand.

A man has been found guilty of murdering a man who confronted him after seeing the killer holding hands with his ex-girlfriend.

Thomas Barton, 30, from Brading, Isle of Wight, was repeatedly stabbed in a "swift and brutal attack" in Ryde in May, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Cameron Baker, 28, from Sandown, will be sentenced on Tuesday.

A university has revealed a £5m upgrade to its dental training centre.

The University of Portsmouth said the enhancements included modern "phantom head" units that simulate patients and virtual reality tools.

It said its Dental Academy, which delivers NHS services, would offer improved care for patients.
