A road that was closed near Stansted Airport for about nine hours following a serious collision has reopened.

National Highways said the westbound carriageway of the A120 Bishop's Stortford bypass was shut at 23:30 BST on Tuesday, between the A1250 and the B1383 at Birchanger in Essex.

It was the diversion route for the M11 southbound, between junction eight and 7A, which had been closed for planned resurfacing work.

The M11 reopened earlier on Wednesday.

Investigation work was being carried out by Essex Police, said National Highways.
