Derbyshire road to close for 12-week wall repair work
Motorists in Derbyshire will be rerouted for 12 weeks while work to repair a storm-damaged wall takes place.
Part of the structure, which supports the B6049 Stretfield Road in Brough, near Bradwell, and runs alongside a brook, collapsed in November.
The county council said work would start on 17 June, closing the road.
The authority will hold a drop-in session about the repairs at Bradwell War Memorial Hall on 4 June.
A shuttle bus will also be provided so passengers can be connected to different services, the council added.
The council said emergency repairs took place to remove loose stones and shore up the wall in December, but they were only temporary measures.
Charlotte Cupit, the authority's cabinet member for highways assets and transport, said the work must take place in summer "because of the lower river level and wildlife issues".
"Repairs are also needed before the winter approaches, as our surveys have shown there is the risk of the road collapsing which would fully close the road and require much more significant work, causing greater inconvenience," she said.
"We understand that any road closure is inconvenient and we'll be working six days a week, with extended hours, subject to dry weather conditions to get the work done as quickly as we can."
