Shrovetide football winners celebrate victory in street

Celebrations in the streets of a Derbyshire town have been captured after the result of an ancient football game.

Thousands of players turned out to compete in this year's Royal Shrovetide Football in Ashbourne.

The game has taken place nearly every year since 1667 and features rival players in teams called the Up'Ards and Down'Ards competing to move the ball to opposite ends of the town.

The Up'Ards goaled for a second time on Wednesday evening to seal a memorable victory.

The team had also taken the honours on the first day of play.
