Wolverhampton man's hidden condition found after dad's surgery
A man would have died from a genetic condition he did not know he had, were it not for his father undergoing open heart surgery.
Doctors discovered a bicuspid aortic valve, while operating on Jon Madden’s father, Bill.
Jon, 37, from Wolverhampton, was diagnosed with it too and needed a life-saving operation seven years later.
On the fifth anniversary of his surgery, Jon, son Hughie and a friend walked the Long Mynd in Shropshire to raise money for New Cross Hospital in the city.
