The crash, on the A458 Bridgnorth bypass, saw the road closed for about six hours

A crash involving a van and a car in Shropshire is being investigated by police.

A grey Vauxhall Combo was in collision with a blue Toyota Aygo on the A458 Bridgnorth bypass, at about 1600 GMT on Wednesday.

Both drivers, a man in his 50s and an 18 year-old woman, were taken to hospital but did not have life-threatening injuries, police said. No arrests have been made.

Anyone in the area at the time is being asked to contact West Mercia Police.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said the road was closed for several hours, before being re-opened at 2200 GMT.

The Vauxhall was travelling towards Dudley when it was involved in the collision with the Aygo, which was on the opposite carriageway, the force added.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene, including one with a crane and winch.
