Works taking place on the Croydon Road will resume again on 2 January 2025

Roadworks being carried out on a main road through Caterham in Surrey are to pause over the festive period, the local council has said.

Works taking place on the Croydon Road will stop on Wednesday 18 December 2024, and will resume again on Thursday 2 January 2025, Tandridge District Council said.

To minimise disruption, the traffic lights will be removed and the pedestrian crossing will work while the site is closed.

However, some barriers and fencing will stay in place to keep the public and the site safe.

The works on the Croydon Road started in February and were expected to be complete in early December.

However, due to several "unforeseen delays", the council said the works would not be completed until early 2025.

The work includes essential surface water repairs, extending and improving footpaths and installing new paving.
