Emergency accommodation for homeless families in Surrey cost over £6m in the last financial year.

Dormers in Caterham, which was closed by the council in 2016, is to be transformed into housing.

Hundreds of homes could be built on disused brownfield sites in Surrey due to government funding.

Delays include a diesel spill on the A22 Caterham bypass and bad weather.

The site will provide standby, emergency electricity for the National Grid when demand is high.

The new homes will be made available to those on Tandridge council's housing register.

The homes include new builds, refurbishments and purchases, Tandridge District Council said.

Tandridge District Council says the homes will be let to families in housing need.
