Hospital introduces mandatory face mask rule

A Derbyshire hospital has brought in new face mask rules in a number of departments amid a rise in flu cases.

Bosses at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital re-introduced mask wearing for all staff, patients and visitors with immediate effect on Monday.

The rule has been applied in the hospital's emergency departments, wards and other areas to which patients are admitted.

The trust said fluid-repellent surgical masks have been made available at stations at all the hospital's entrances and exits.

A spokesperson for the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: "This is in line with a rise in flu cases in our hospital and in accordance with our agreed thresholds, which will be regularly reviewed."
