Cancelled sleigh tour back on after offer of help
A popular Santa's sleigh tour of suburban streets has been reinstated after it was cancelled due to safety concerns and a lack of volunteers.
After hearing that the Sheffield Round Table group had been forced to take their sleigh off the road because of maintenance issues with the vehicle, neighbouring Chesterfield Round Table offered to help.
The Chesterfield group runs its own sleigh tour and has extended it to include two extra dates in the city's western suburbs.
Its chairman Michael Burnell said it "was the right thing to do".
Last year the Sheffield sleigh run helped to raise more than £3,500 for the Cavendish Cancer Care charity
On Sunday 15 December, the sleigh will visit Norton Lees, Jordanthorpe, Greenhill and Dore, and the following day will be in Millhouses, Greystones, Crosspool and Lodge Moor.
Mr Burnell added: "We had seen the huge disappointment from the residents of Sheffield with the cancellation of the sleigh run so we have added two extra dates to our own sleigh ride to help out."
