A man has been charged with causing the death of a father-of-two who was knocked from his motorbike by a car on Merseyside.

Vincent Lawrence, known as Vinny, was killed on 19 July 2023 on Northern Perimeter Road in Netherton.

Police said Mr Lawrence was riding an orange Honda motorbike which was struck by a red Vauxhall Astra at about 23:10 GMT.

Kieran Williams, 24, has been charged with causing Mr Lawrence's death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs.

'Taken too soon'

Williams, of Waterside in Netherton, was due to make a first appearance at Liverpool Magistrates' Court where the case will be sent to Liverpool Crown Court.

Two men were initially arrested over the collision but one was released without charge.

At the time of his death, Mr Lawrence's family issued a short tribute.

Describing the 48-year-old as "tragically taken too soon", they said he was "sadly missed by his, father, brother, sisters, nephews, nieces and his two beautiful sons".

"Love you forever," their statement added.

Merseyside Police confirmed Williams had been summonsed to court by postal requisition.
