Police are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a woman in a city park.

Leicestershire Police said they were told the attack happened in De Montfort Square in Leicester in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A cordon was in place while inquiries were carried out but has since been lifted, the force added.

Officers asked anyone with any information about the incident to contact them.
