One man was rescued by firefighters called to a large fire at a warehouse in Leicester.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said 13 crews were sent to a distribution warehouse in Burnmoor Street, near the King Power Stadium, at about 18:30 GMT on Monday.

Leicestershire Police said Burnmoor Street, Filbert Street, Sawday Street and Brazil Street were closed and asked residents nearby to keep windows and doors shut.

A fire service spokesperson said there had not yet been "confirmation that everyone is out".

"We are not sure how many people were in there at the time," the spokesperson added.

He said eight breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets and two main jets were being used.

A total of 10 fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, command support vehicle and welfare vehicle were at the scene, he added.
