Third generation volunteer receives Kings medal
A man who is the third generation of his family to volunteer for Bridlington RNLI is among those awarded a King's Coronation Medal.
The accolades were awarded to volunteer members of the lifeboat crew with five years of service at the time of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6 May 2023.
Of those attending the presentation on 4 November was volunteer helm Ash Traves, who attended with four generations of his family.
His grandmother Margaret has been a volunteer at the station for many years and his dad, Chris, is a launch authority and shore crew volunteer at the station.
Mr Traves also brought his two young sons to the ceremony, and the RNLI said it hoped they might one day become the fourth generation of volunteers at Bridlington.
Also receiving the King's Coronation medal was volunteer mechanic James Mather, who attended the presentation with his wife and newborn son Lucas.
Mr Mather said: "To receive the King's Medal at the station was our first trip out of the house as a family of three, and will be remembered as a special occasion."
The medals were presented by volunteer lifeboat operations manager, Steve Clarke.
