Snowfall and freezing temperatures have hit Hull and East Yorkshire, prompting warnings of ice and snow.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning from 18:00 GMT on Tuesday until 12:00 on Wednesday.

It said the conditions would make it difficult to travel.

The RAC urged people not to rush out of the house without planning their journeys.

Among the driving advice is to clear windscreen, windows, roof and lights of any snow first before getting in the car. Boiling water must not be used to melt snow as this can crack the glass.

East Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd has said there was disruption on a number of its routes "due to bad weather".

It has advised passengers to plan their journeys and "stay safe".

National Rail has also advised passengers to check their journey before travelling.
