Tribute to beloved father shot dead in car
The family of a man who was fatally shot inside a car in Birmingham have paid tribute, describing him as a beloved husband and father.
Raad Asmael, 27, was found injured on Rotton Park Road at the junction of City Road in Edgbaston on Friday just before 23:00 GMT. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man who was found injured at a bus stop remained in a stable condition in hospital, West Midlands Police said.
A man in his 30s, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, was released without charge.
In a statement released by police, Mr Asmael's family stated: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to him we shall return. Our beloved husband, son, father and brother."
The force is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage or mobile phone footage from the area at the time, to contact police.
Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison said: "Our thoughts are with Raad’s family at this incredibly difficult time and we are doing everything we can to understand exactly what happened.
“The shooting took place near the busy junction with City Road and it may be that you have information which can help our investigation progress.
"If so, please get in touch urgently.”
