Arrests as weapons and drugs worth £33k seized

Eighteen people have been arrested as part of a drug crackdown in Lincolnshire.

They were charged with more than 60 offences between them during a week of action, which saw a dozen county lines closed, Lincolnshire Police said.

About £10,000 in cash and £33,000 worth of drugs were seized. Multiple weapons, including an air rifle and knives, were also confiscated.

The nationwide operation took place between 25 November and 1 December and involved the Metropolitan Police and the British Transport Police.

County lines is the term used to describe when illegal drugs are moved from cities into towns and rural areas.

Det Supt Amy Whiffen, of Lincolnshire Police, said: "It's vitally important our response to this criminality is joined up across the whole system – the work carried out highlights the need to work collectively to share information, collaborate and respond effectively to protect communities and bring offenders to justice."
