Airport passengers warned about motorway roadworks
Passengers flying from East Midlands Airport over the coming week are being warned to allow extra time for roadworks.
The M1 junction, near EMA in Castle Donington, will have overnight roadworks taking place for seven days from Friday.
This includes work to the junction 24 roundabout at Kegworth Interchange, the M1 exit sliproad, the A50 eastbound at junction 1, and the link road between the A50 and the M1.
These roads will all be closed to traffic from 20:00 GMT overnight.
This will allow "essential safety works", said National Highways, including resurfacing, and refreshing road markings and studs.
The work will take place for seven nights, and all closures should lift by 06:00 the following morning.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "Flying from East Midlands Airport? Allow extra time to get there due to roadworks.
"We'll maintain access for emergency services throughout. We'll make every effort to minimise the impact of our work on the local community and the travelling public."
