A husband and wife have died in a crash involving two vehicles.

Emergency services were called at about 20:50 GMT on Wednesday to the collision involving a grey Nissan Pulsar and a grey Toyota Prius on the A47 at Thorney Toll, near Peterborough.

The Nissan driver Sandra Spinks, 65, and her passenger, 68-year-old Brian Spinks, were both taken to hospital and died from their injuries.

Three occupants in the Toyota were taken to hospital, including a woman who suffered life-threatening injuries and remained in a critical condition.

The couple were both from Wilstead in Bedfordshire.

The Model Power Boat Association said Mr Spinks was a member for more than 50 years and was a president of the Welwyn Garden City Society of Model Engineers.

"Brian was well known amongst the straight running fraternity and will be much missed. Our condolences to his family and close friends," MPBA said in a statement.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage was asked to contact Cambridgeshire Police.
