Town's Victorian library to be refurbished
A date for refurbishment work to a Grade II-listed library building has been announced.
Ilkley Library will close on 17 February for the work to begin and is expected to be closed for several weeks.
The refurbishment will include redecoration, new flooring, movable shelving and a fully accessible public toilet created and a kitchenette installed, Bradford Council said.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby said funding for the refurbishment had come from Arts Council England and CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy).
Ms Ferriby, the council's executive member for healthy people and places, said the funding had allowed the authority to refurbish a number of its libraries and make them "more welcoming for our customers".
She said refurbishing Ilkley Library would serve to make it "more accessible and flexible to host a range of meetings and events".
"We are ensuring that all the work here is done sensitively and fits with the heritage and listed status of the Ilkley Library building," she added.
