Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating the incident which happened at a property on Macauley Crescent in Plymouth on Monday.

Officers said three young men were seen in the street trying doors to houses and cars before forcing entry to a house.

Police said two of the suspects left the area in the stolen Audi, while a third made off on a push bike

Police believed the same men had also been trying door handles in the surrounding streets including Conrad Road and Dryden Avenue.

Det Con Nathan Drew said: "We are appealing to residents to check their CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage in case they captured images of the males, who may have tried more door handles than we are currently aware of.

"If anyone knows the whereabouts of the stolen Audi A3, with the number plate of EG12XAN or has any information about this matter, we urge them to contact us."
