Police are appealing for help in finding a woman who disappeared 53 years ago.

Freda Margaret Green, from John Street in Brierley Hill, was reported missing by her parents in April 1972 at the age of 22.

West Midlands Police said 14 February would have been Ms Green's 75th birthday.

"We are hoping by issuing this appeal it may lead to someone remembering anything about her disappearance, or have any information on her whereabouts," it said.

The force has issued a picture of Ms Green, thought to have been taken when she was about 15 or 16.

It said that when she went missing she was 5ft 4in, had blue eyes, wore glasses, and had "distinctive operation scars" on both feet.

Ms Green was a regular at the New Inns pub on Dudley Road - now the Dog and Lamp Post - and worked as a glass polisher for the Stourbridge glass company Steven and Williams.

Anyone who has any information on Ms Green's whereabouts is asked to contact the Missing Persons Investigation Unit at West Midlands Police.
