Man jailed over woman's death in hit-and-run crash

A driver who fled after his vehicle struck and killed a woman as she was crossing a road has been jailed.
Salma Rafique, 27, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene of the hit-and-run crash on a pedestrian crossing on Thorns Road in Quarry Bank, Dudley, in September 2023.
Tyrone Moran pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court to causing death by dangerous driving.
On Friday, following a court hearing, the 19-year-old from Oldswinford in Stourbridge, Dudley, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison and issued with a five-year driving ban.
West Midlands Police reported at the time that a car was found abandoned near the crash, after which a man went to a police station and was detained.
