Wiltshire in Pictures: Toothbrushes, tigers and barges

People across the county endured freezing temperatures earlier this week, but life for many has gone on surprisingly unabated.

Salisbury pensioner Phyll Babb just carried on walking, children in Swindon have been learning how to brush their teeth properly and the big cats at Longleat have been spotted out and about.

Unstoppable: Phyll Babb hit her target of 100 walks in her 100th year - six months ahead of schedule.

She is raising money for Salisbury Trust for the Homeless and has now doubled her goal and is aiming to complete 200 one-mile walks by the time of her important birthday on 13 July.

Smile like you mean it: On Monday, children at Greenmeadow Primary School in Swindon were visited by Bob the Badger from the Big Brush Club.

He was teaching them about the importance of oral health, with the pupils getting a chance to choose a colourful new toothbrush.

Big cats: Longleat House may be closed for the winter season, but visitors can still enjoy a 6.5 mile (10km) drive through the safari, where lots of animals, especially the lions and tigers, have been spotted out and about.

Cleaning up: Wiltshire Council launched this year's Great British Spring Clean initiative which aims to get schools and community groups out and about in the county picking up litter.

The council hopes that the scheme, now in its 10th year, will surpass last year's total of over 9,800kg of litter collected.

Chuffed: Meanwhile, this Siberian Chiffchaff looked oblivious to the coldsnap, as he was spotted perched happily on a fence in Swindon.
