Disneyland trip plan after £100k lottery win
A bar manager from Staffordshire is planning to go on a family holiday to Disneyland Paris and put down a deposit on a house after winning £100,000 on a lottery game.
Dan Cater, 39, from Lichfield, won by playing Monopoly Gold on the National Lottery app.
He said the win was made all the sweeter by the fact he was celebrating his sixth wedding anniversary to wife Kayleigh over the same weekend.
"I kept looking and looking and then I started screaming 'I have won!'" he said.
"My wife Kayleigh then started screaming too... we just couldn’t believe it!"
The pair then visited their neighbours to share the news.
"I couldn’t speak properly and our neighbours didn't understand what was going on," Mr Cater said.
"At one point they said, 'just call an ambulance if you aren’t well?'"
The couple celebrated with their neighbours, sitting and talking about the experience while sipping a bottle of prosecco, he added.
Mr Cater called the National Lottery the following morning to claim his prize.
The couple, who have four young children, said they would treat their little ones to a trip to Disneyland Paris and then use the rest of the money to put a deposit down on a house after renting for many years.
They have also splashed out on technology since their win.
Mr Cater, who works at The Acorn pub in Lichfield added: "We’ve never had that much money, pretty much going week-by-week, but this is a game-changer.
"To be able to put a deposit down on a house is just amazing."
