Pirates travel for 14-year-old's funeral
Pirates from across the country attended the funeral of a 14-year-old fan of all things swashbuckling.
Billy Maskell, from Liverton Mines, died on 15 December. He was born with the life-limiting Dravet syndrome.
The teen, who was "always laughing and smiling", loved pirates, so with the support of local pirate groups, a guard of honour waited for him at St Leonard's Church in Loftus.
Described by his dad Danny as "a fighter", the teen had a seizure that "he just couldn't come out of this time".
His mum Nicola said the pirates turning out was "special" and her son "would have been over the moon".
