Football ban for teen caught making racist gesture
A teenager has been given a three-year football ban after making racist gestures towards Peterborough United player Ricky-Jade Jones.
Ryan Asplen, 19, was arrested during a Peterborough United v Cambridge United match at the Weston Homes Stadium, Peterborough, on 9 November last year.
CCTV caught him making offensive "monkey gestures" towards the player.
Asplen, of Bush Close, Cambridge, was fined £100 at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Friday after admitting to a racially aggravated public order offence.
Alex Tunbridge, chief executive of Cambridge United, said: "Cambridge United condemns the actions of this so-called supporter in the strongest possible terms.
"He does not represent the club. We have been working with the police since the game and completely support the implementation of his three-year Football Banning Order."
