Flames and thick smoke billow at 'very large fire'
Video showed flames and thick smoke billowing into the air from a very large fire at a building.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Peggs Lane in Hertford on Tuesday at 19:05 BST.
A spokesperson for the fire service said six crews found a fire in a disused annex building within the grounds of County Hall.
Crews had extinguished the fire by 22:00 BST and firefighters remained at the scene to dampen down any hotspots.
The fire was contained to the annex building and did not affect the neighbouring Leahoe House or County Hall, the fire spokesperson added, and no-one was hurt.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place.
"This was a large scale fire and firefighters worked hard to contain and extinguish it, I'd like to thank them for their efforts to prevent the fire from spreading further," Andy Hall, chief fire officer said.
