Pub bombings: 'These people deserve to be remembered'
Thursday marks the 50th anniversary of the Birmingham pub bombings, which left 21 people dead and more than 200 injured.
A series of commemorative events are taking place across the city in the lead-up to an event at the memorial outside Birmingham New Street Station on Thursday afternoon.
BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen, who was a journalist in the city when the bombers struck on 21 November 1974, has been talking to students at Bishop Challoner Catholic College in Kings Heath.
Pupils heard his memories of that night and talked about the 50-year impact on the city.
A BBC podcast series on the Birmingham pub bombings is available now and a documentary talking to people at the heart of the story, called I Was There - the Birmingham Pub Bombings, is available on BBC iPlayer.
