'It was crazy winning my first European medal'
A weightlifter has described the moment she won her first medal at a major European competition.
Isabella Brown was competing in group B for Great Britain at the European Weightlifting Championships in Moldova in April.
The 20-year-old had returned to the team hotel and was eating her dinner as she watched a big screen that showed all other competitors miss their lifts.
The room erupted when the final athlete missed theirs, and Brown - known as Bella - realised that she had won bronze - her first senior international medal.
She said: "I was just completely shocked, like, didn't expect it whatsoever."
Bella, who trains at the University of Nottingham's David Ross Sports Village, lifted a 100kg snatch and 123kg in the clean and jerk, culminating in a 223kg total.
She now has her sights set on qualifying for the 2028 Olympics, which will take place in Los Angeles, California.
