Obesity: Is healthy food more expensive?

As new research suggests a third of adults in Wales are obese, opinions on the cost of healthy food differ.

George Dungworth said eating healthily could be "super cheap", particularly when cooking in large batches, but it took planning and required time.

But Rebecca Lomas said she believed healthy food was "definitely" more expensive, and Matt Dyble pointed out fewer fast but healthy options are available.

Charity Nesta, which carried out the research, welcomed Welsh government policies such as the aim to restrict the price-promotion of foods high in fat, sugar and salt, but said "bolder action" was needed, such as health targets for major retailers.

Health Secretary Eluned Morgan said tackling obesity rates was one of her top three priorities.
