Plaid Cymru has taken two councils in north-west Wales, securing a majority on Anglesey and retaining Gwynedd.

The party won 21 seats Anglesey, giving it control of a council that has been run as a Plaid-independent coalition since 2017.

It also won 44 of the 69 seats on Gwynedd council, which Plaid has governed since 1996.

Elsewhere, Conwy remained under no overall control, with independents winning 22 seats.
