Police search for owner of dog found in 'stolen' car

Police have tracked down one of the owners of two dogs that were found in a car believed to be stolen.
Officers were called to a report that a BMW X5 towing a caravan had been seen weaving on the carriageway of the A55, near Colwyn Bay in Conwy.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, theft and motor vehicle theft. He was further arrested for theft of dogs, obstruct police and an outstanding fail to appear offence.
The pets - a Jack Russell cross puppy and a Fell Terrier - were taken back to police headquarters before being collected by the kennels.
The 30-year-old male driver, from County Laois in Ireland, was released under investigation for the offences whilst enquiries continue.
He was remanded to appear before Llandudno Magistrates Court this morning charged with the separate fail to appear offence.
Officers said they were working to identify the owner of the second dog.
"The male driver was not able to give a proper account for the dogs so he was also arrested on suspicion of theft," police said.
